Ive recently had a brain fart with an idea for an app that dont think is currently out there. Done a few google searches to check.
The thing is i don't really know where to start and what is involved. Has anyone here created an app for the masses?

I'm sure a member made on about swarmly or something? Might be worth contacting them.

You can get some app builders such as AppyPie (https://www.appypie.com/) if your idea is fairly basic.
Otherwise you will need to code it from scratch and that is going to be a pain i imagine if you have no prior experience
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

This.
You either need to
1. Know how to code and make the App, submit it, launch it, publicise it.
2. Do the above but bring someone on board who can code, and get some legal docs to confirm ownership and rights to profits, costs, legal liabilities etc.
My friend can code, he made an app around 6 years ago, went live in the App & Play Store and then a company approached him to buy it from him, sold it for near £100k. Says took him around 2-3 months after work to code. App never even made it into the top 50 on the respective stores, so he did well.

My friend had quite a bit of spare time on his job, an idea and is the type of person who can focus on most things and learn them (was heavily into magic when younger etc). He learned how to code, built the app (didn't get to release it) but now a bigger company has released something that's very similar so if you think it's a new idea probably a good idea to get a partner on board who has experience and can help you be the first out the gate! If you think the idea is that good then just make sure you protect it before divulging any details.

It really depends on the complexity of the app you were trying to make.
If timing is paramount then it'll be best to get someone onboard who can knock it out,
Otherwise, there's hundreds of free resources out there for android / ios development for you to sink your teeth into. You could make something basic with no prior knowledge over a weekend.

I saw an advert on the tube a while back where you could hire students to do odd jobs (not just coding but anything) and pay them pennies for it.
If ur happy with a student doing it I guess...

As a side note I use fivesquids often.
Mostly when I need to design a T Shirt for a Stag do, or a party, or flyers, it's great for people with photoshop skills.
Thanks for the responses.
Looks like its way bigger than i originally thought. Was'nt sure i could protect the app idea.
It is complex as it requires a network of users and could also be intergrated with facebook or other apps that are similar.
