    Weird Fly Traps

During the warm seasons we're plagued by bluebottles, mostly due to the large trees at the bottom of the garden, is just a hive of insects and such.

Like most they always end up in the fucking house, and what makes it worse, we have cat food out in the kitchen, so if you're not careful, you'll come back to dozens of the cunts.

Saw a few tricks on the web about traps so giving this one a go.

Bottles contain water, rotting tomato, wet cat food and some stinky ham. Have placed one outside the back door, and one on the other side near the kitchen window, interested to see how they get on over the next few week.

Net curtains for the windows and those door strips for the doors seem to really help stop flies coming in.

Yeah, nets are ugly as fuck though, and not really practice with volume of traffic.

Never heard og bug-a-salt but looks like fun. Not sure about the £50 price tag though. I have reasonable success with old fashioned fly strips but they only work on a random basis, don't really attract flies.

Looking forward to hearing about the results of your foul fly traps. I'd have to stop my huskies trying to get into them.

I make the same trap for wasps when camping abroad, and they work a treat. Looking at that image, the screw caps have been left on. You'll never catch anything with the caps left on lol.

    Thanks to tips

I'm not that fucking bad ha. Both caps have a whole about 12mm in the centre of the cap. Big enough for most flies but. Not big enough to. Easily get out.

Wonder if he cat biscuits are anything to do with it.

We have some hanging ones little cone shaped things with a lip you stick some sugar or syrup in moxed with a little water and the shits can get in but not out again.
They cost £2 from b&q and they work a treat.

Do the traps stink like a crack whores fanny though ??? Would you be able to sit near one relaxing outside without gagging ?

Edit: Can you replace cat food with dog food as I have a dog and not a cat and my dog would get angry if I bought cat food.

    Thanks to piggzy

Wozers I bet they fckin wreak

Have you tried hanging clear bags half filled with water and a couple of shiny coins dropped in there to retract the light, around the entry points?
No one knows how it works for sure but most theories revolve around the light being refracted by the coins in the water creating an effect that flying bugs don't like.

If that doesn't work there's lots of cheap zappers on shitbay and the like or from further afield if you don't mind the wait.

    They're not great smelling!

I did read the coins in a bag trick, but didn't have any clear bags to hand, or pennies coincidentaily after the Mrs has just been shopping.

Not one fly.Not sure went wrong.

Going to have another go, with some old ham, and wet cat food, they seem to love that when I've put the cats bowls outside before!

I have been using the shiny coins in a bag of water with great results, I have a through lounge with patio doors and have always had problems with flies circling the ceiling lights...Not any more, amazing.

I have read that the flies see the refracted light from the coins as very large spiders eyes.

They have to be in the middle of a window opening or can they be next the window opening?
