I've barely played 2e Pnp, and nevermind the 3e. Regardless, miniscule changes such as letting Clerics use swords or whatnot doesn't hamper the experience all that much. Hopefully, they'll continue the tradition of the characters' uniqueness, such as the usage of Prestige Class, as a previous replyer has made mention.

Yeah, surprisingly the Infinity engine is still the most suitable for RPGs. It works so intuitively with party roleplaying.

And the artwork for IWD is still second to none. It always manages to capture the feeling of the fantasy/medievalish theme that I love so much.

Personally, I don't even consider BG 1/2 to be that good. I really don't care for D&D rules at all, whether they are 2e, or 3e. I feel that a good system specifically designed for a computer game can always be better than a system designed for PnP.

With that being said, I probably won't proclaim that a great RPG has been released until Fallout 3 comes out.

Can't stand IWD's artwork, it looks like something vomited. Even NWN's artwork is better.

Personally I loved Baldur's Gate 2's portrait artwork, although IWD had its own little "charm" as well.

I'd just like to point out for those who haven't done too much research that Prestige Classes are not in Icewind Dale 2. Prestige Classes in themselves are an apparently very bad implementation of a great idea, i.e. some prestige classes are extremely powerful while some are completely weak (and relatively useless in a game like IWD2).

Oh well.
