    Default Flash2Advance?

    How does that stuff work?

From what I understood, you actually needed a hardware linker to flash stuff to the flash carts. You know, a little thing where you plug in your flash carts to have em flashed.

Now when I check CD64(since I can finally afford one of these damn things) all I see is a Flash2Advance + cart sets, which seem to be kinda weird. I mean, all they show in the pictures are a flash cart and a cable; now I am guessing this cable plugs into the parallel port of a PC and the other end of the cable into the actual flash cart, but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong. I've never seen a flash cart that had an external input other than it's standard connections, so what's up with that? It's very cheap(the 256mb kit is 119USD) but there must be something up with that..

hiya, i will be ordering a f2a once lik-sang comes online, this is what i understand from talking to someone who has one (well a fa not f2a).

the f2a lead connects to the parraral port (printer) on your computer.

it connect the other end to where the gamecube to gba link lead goes.

its best to get alteast 128 mbit, this will hold 2 8 meg games, and 1 16 meg game, i will be ordering a 256mbit cart, just encase nintendo decides that games can use this size and so i find i can't run certain games because they wont fit.

simple unilities will copy the game over and make multi-game menu's.

where are you planning on ordering it from?

    I got mine from lan-kwei.com

It works just like applebelly described. Just hook it up, hold start+select and power on the GBA, then select the roms, then write flash. Simple stuff.

BTW, the new version of the F2A program became available a few weeks ago. http://www.flash2advance.com

It fixes the damn menu corruption problem. Thank god.

Hmm, sounds very interesting, and more worthwhile than a FA Linker.. I just don't get how it gets flashed tho. I don't think the GBA can flash the cart in it's slot, so it's just weird

Still, thanks guys. I think I'll be getting one soon.

Well I've had my Flash2Advance 256Mbit kit for a few weeks now and it simply works. With the new version of the software save games can now actually be saved to your pc (there were some problems with the old software) and it's not really that slow. About 5-6 mins to flash a full 256Mbit cart. I can live with that.

It's also quite convenient not to need anything but a cable and the actual cart

Another nice thing is the fact that games like Yoshi's Island simply worked 100% straight off, whereas the Xtreme sets had a few minor problems. Of course noone can know what the future brings, but for now, I'm quite satisfied with the hardware. The software could do with a few more upgrades, but it works adequately.

I know what you mean, but it makes sense, because it seems nintendo may use this feature to download games to a blank rom with the gamecube link, makes sense.

they have done it before, the snes you could download games from a satiliate system or something (not 100% sure) with a little addon, all official.

I heard about that for the snes, but I think it was with a disk system, not blank rom carts..

Nope! It'll cost you more than a GBA game to flash once! That's why these things are hot!

    Of course they're rewritable!

im jobless, so i got a 64m set, and it works great, worth every penny.

only thing is, it really uses a lotta juice while flashing, but its better than wasting SIX at a time with the FA linker

You mean it drains the GBA's batteries? Hmm..

That's something I'll have to look into, but thanks for the tip. Since I use crappy rechargeable batteries that last something like 3-4 hours while normal batteries should do about 10, I'll have to make sure I have enough juice..

Yea, you could always use the GBA AC adapter while flashing though. It's not really a big deal if you're only playing a few games. I found myself flashing alot only when I was applying translation patches to my games.

Default BY FROM SUCESS ONLINE STORE!

I got my F2A 128MB linker at http://www.success-hk.com/pp/success.asp Only 80USD and it arrived in my mailbox in Norway after only 3 days using EMS. 10 USD in custom clearance. F2A is working great! Not draining batteries. A 64MB rom takes 124 sek to flash. Only a few roms are not compatible. Why wait for Lik-Sang? Success are far more proffesional and reliable.

a few roms are incompatible? what are you talking about?

    please elaborate on this issue

the only roms that havent worked on my f2a64 are ones that are 128mbit and that problem is obvious..
