    Default Oil - $100 A Barrel?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...25/ixport.html

I don't believe this guy, I think he's just trying to scare people so we won't go to war with Iraq. What do you think?

And? I doubt Saudi Arabia won't capitalize on this and sell it to us for cheap.

i wouldn't be surprised if oil prices jumped after US goes to war with iraq. After all it is a large producer of oil and if america starts bombing i think the ppl will have more pressing matters than drill for oil for foreign countries(ie trying to survive).

Of course oil prices will go up, just as they did during the Gulf War, but I don't believe they'll jump to $100 a barrel. I guess this is a good time to head back up to Alaska and start drilling. It's about time we became more self-sufficient.

$22-27 Per barrel, so jesus IF it was $100 that would make petrol like $4 more per gallon! :S

But wouldn't it hurt some moose habitat or something? And after all, isn't that what really matters?

I know you're being sarcastic but it wouldn't hurt any animal's habitat. It's like 1/100 of 1% of the land that they want to use. The wackos said that a bunch of animals would die when they built the original pipeline in Alaska, guess what? They were wrong, it actually helped the population of many animals because they were hanging out by the pipeline for it's heat and reproducing better.
I don't understand anyone that is opposed to drilling for our own oil in our own country instead of being reliant on overseas oil. We can control environmental issues better in our country than overseas.

Hmmm... maybe because drilling in Alaska would only increase our oil production a whoping 2%!

drilling in alaska is pointless... its not that much oil anyways... its not worth all the people protesting and shit.

I'm not sure where you people are getting your facts but there is a LOT of oil up there. If people protest that automatically means we should give in to them? Please explain the reason why we should just leave the oil sitting under all that ice. We have a product that we can use that is under a bunch of ice. Oil companies are willing to invest to get that oil. The impact on the environment would be as minimal as possible, not even an issue. It seems to me that this is the perfect place to drill for oil, people don't want to drill off the coast of California because they're afraid of accidents and don't want the oil rigs distracting their view, the same is true for the Gulf of Mexico. Nobody lives out there where they want to drill, wildlife wouldn't be hurt, there are no trees that would have to be cut down, nobody would be kicked out of their house, if by some fluke there was an accident it wouldn't harm anything. You couldn't ask for a more perfect place. Best of all we don't have to go to war to protect the oil up there, it's on U.S. land.

Possibly because its not the oil companies job to kill everything and take natural resources.... and by the way, what the hell will happen when we are out in ay 100 years and we need some for a reason... always have a backup, and if its your country its even better.

We get less than 3% of our oil from the Middle East. Our biggest suppliers are Norway and Russia.
