well if you know who NERD is, and you know more than two of their songs, and two of their members, then you have a right to like pharrell without being a 'groupie'

Well you know N.E.R.D. came out with their own album. He is a mega-music star now, or a 'rock star'.

People at parties want to dance to songs they know. So don't try to play anything really really new, they won't know what to do. A house party is different than a Club spot. Just look over at www.billboard.com and check out the charts.

dont worry i know all that shit.. (ive seen you post @ startrak's forum btw).
the 'groupie' shit has gotten out of hand now. i have a feeling neptunes are gonna turn into teeny shit.. which they already have by producing numerous artists. i thought it was cool that they were willing to produce britney spears (meaning they wouldnt discriminate pop music and just do hiphop), but now its justin timberlake they're producing, and god knows who else in the future. thats not a positive direction if you ask me(don't get me wrong, they'll be incredibly successful money wise.. artisticly (sp), they prolly wont be). but as long as their open to all sorts of music theres gonna be plenty of artists that i dont like that they will still produce for. from there i will decide if i still will follow their music or not.

i personally think what they are doing is great. they should be making all the beats they are, however the spotlight they are getting might be bad. dre or timbaland didnt have this brightness like pharrell and the neptunes. so i hope they will be around for years to come, its a test...

neptunes are slightly different than dre and timbaland cause its a 2man group. and they will be around for years to come simply because n*e*r*d has another album coming out. the whole thing about n*e*r*d is that they dont give a fuck if people dont like it. its an experimental thing only, they do what they like. which is how it should be.

i found myself listening to alot of oldschool dre shit. im glad that he never really did much production with teeny stars. kinda pisses me off that he produces eminem though.

well im hot to all the new hiphop and dance music the only thing is i am younger then the average college kid(im only 18) most college kids at this joint are 20-23, so i was just wondering what sort of 'older' mainstream stuff they would like? i guess some examples are :

salt n peppa - push it
    runDMC - walk this way

im just looking for stuff that is more crossover, because i mostly DJ hip hop and a little bit of dance...good suggestions so far, thx, neptunes do rock, but i like allot of their older beats when they werent all into MCing in them :o) i think one of the best is Jay-Z - i just wanna luv you, gotta be one of their best beats, gets stuck in my head for days!

    hmm, maybe
    culture beat - mr. vain
    genuwine - pony
ll coolj - loungin' / doin' it
la bouche - be my lover
rob base - it takes two
real 2 real - i like to move it
c&c music factory - everybody dance now
    us3 - cantaloop (flip fantasia)
young mc - bust a move
    wreckx n effects - rumpshaker

i have no idea what your looking for.. people will dance to that shit though

    LMAO, welcome to 1994 Electrici.

Well since you are speaking of dance music, I'll throw in some songs that won't weird people out who don't usually hit the clubs.

Shannon - Let The Music Play (Full Intention Mix)
Britney Spears - Anticipating (Pkchu & Rls Hard Mix) (I'm not kidding, very easy beat to dance too, they'll love it.)
Daniel Beddingfield - Gotta Get Through This (Any Mix incl. Orig))
Paulina Rubio - Don't Say Goodbye (Any Mix incl. Orig)
Kylie Minouge - Love at First Site (Scumfrog Mix)
N.E.R.D. - Rockstar (Jason Nevins Club Blaster)
Tina Ann - In My Dreams (Any Mix incl. Orig)
Who Da Funk - Shiny Disco Balls
Vengaboys - Up and Down (Radio Edit)
Jennifer Lopez - Alive (Thunderpuss Anthem)

Those are pretty normal people friendly songs. I know I'm gonna get some lip by some people, but don't pay any attention to them. This is dance music. Its pretty mainstream so people can sing along to it. You can find all those songs to download easy, but if you want them on vinyl you can find all of them except for Shannon pretty easily.

i guess i was wrong for trying to help him get what he wanted, not current mainstream shit like you just gave.
