They have a lot of information there. Just to educate yourself a bit about stereos.
Send me the money and I'll send you a stereo.
I found http://www.audioreview.com to be helpful when buying my stereo, and to a lesser extent http://www.epinions.com/elec-Audio was very helpful as well.
get dts if you can and watch dvd movies
I got an "alpine cd player head unit model cda 7892" make sure you get a good one with subwoofer controls or else your system will suck no matter what.
I use 2 12'' 800 watt sony xplod subs 400 rms.
Make sure your subs have a decent rms or they will over heat and be junk.
for my amp i use a legacy 500x2 channel amp.
Get a capacitor also atleast 1.0 farad if your getting a big amp.
Legacy makes very decent low price amps and capacitors.
Their speakers, cd players on the other hand suck nuts.
erm, i think that will be tooo powerfull for me! and arn't them subs for cars?
c'mon guys, someone must be able to help me out, also i will have £500 to spend
i can just say one thing out of experience..if you mainly listen to techno/trance/dance/rave music..you dont need very expensive speakers...but if you wanna listen to rock/metal and stuff..youll need better speakers.
IF you wanna have really fun..build your own speakers..it can be done very cheap ..and the outcome is always a surprise
i built huge very cheap speakers for my brother many years ago..two big boxes with two cheap 12" bass speakers in each and a horn(?) in each..no filters no nothing...those speakers really sounds ok..especially when playin "simple" music like dance/rave/hiphop..basically any music that isnt rock/metal with lots of guitars and stuff
Well it all depends on what you're going to use it for. If you're planning on watching DVDs like was mentioned above make sure it supports DTS. I'd suggest at least a 550 Watt amp. Pretty much if you're watching DVDs the center channel and your sub are the two most important speakers. The front left, front right, rear left, and rear right are just used for ambiance in movies. If you're primarily going to listen to music make sure your front left and front right speakers are good. I know in American money I got a nice center channel speaker for $200, the receiver for $500, and the other 4 speakers for $500, the sub for $200. Hope that helps.
