its a scary thought...but..actually i think if scientists was 100% sure they world was going to explode or whatever..the end of all life...they wouldnt tell people about it..because that would create chaos and panic..imagine if this is true and we all get it 100% confirmed..the world would be total chaos and anarchy for 6 years.

    LOL, surrrrrrre

The sun CAN'T explode, its not big enough

Only the larger Stars can go Nova or SuperNova

And also out of the millions of stars out there, Novas and SuperNovas are extremely rare, maybe once a year or so.

For temperature increases that they're talking about, the effects would be
MUCH more marked than any we (might) be seeing now.

The bit that tickled me was right at the end: [Quote:] "NASA refuses to
confirm the Euro-pean (sic) scientists' assertions and a White House source
said, "We don't need anyone spreading more panic now."

Did they ACTUALLY mean to say that?

    :-) ROFLMAO

    - Tom.

Glad someone cleared that up ^

CAIRO, Egypt — A team of archaeologists has revealed that the incredibly preserved mummy of a woman who died more than 3,000 years ago is now pregnant — and a janitor is being fingered as the father!

Custodian Dobi Sitar says he could not resist. “That mummy was the so beautiful, I had to make love to her,” says the smitten janitor. “It was as if her voice was calling out to me. I call her my ‘Mummy Dearest.’

what kid of name is Dr. Piers Van der Meer
    It sounds kinda cool though.
It takes billions of years for a star to go through the cycle that was described in the article. They couldn't have observered it in such a short time.

Damn, another fake! And I thought I'm gonna make all that money selling booze to people and become richest man, just before it will blow up (along with Guiness World record of most alcohol sold in shortest amount of time.)
But lets speculate (maybe a mod could even make a poll?) do you think more people would turn to religion or more would be fornicating on every corner? (Excluding people fornicating in churches)

OK HERE WE GO, BAD SCIENCE LIKE THIS PISSES ME OFF.

ok now that the evil caps lock god has been defeated on to the explanition. Solar flares occur all the time, and yes some of them DO reach earth. Thats what a lot of your lovely interference is. Next, until the suns core is completely helium, nuclear reactions will go on as thay have been for the next 1.7 billion years, i believe thats the current estimate for the suns life. Next, our sun just dosent have the mass to go nova, and certainly not supernova, it CAN expand, but that is a GRADUAL process, cannot be measured in human concepts of time (years, decades etc.) NEXT, the Kepler star mentioned in 1604 going supernova, do you THINK they had the technology then to measure what the core temperature of the star could do, no of course not. And final fact (and biased too), what the hell is the European Space Agency known for? They have the Ariane rocket, a completely unreusable outdated missle. Ok that was more of a joke, but the rest of my argument is true, if someone can confirm or give me an update on if the 1.7 billion years number is different or not i would apprectaite that, but there is no way it is just 6 years. End anaylisis, you aint losing your virginity any time soon j/k.

    Dont panic.
