    Default Disabling keyboard power key

Does anyone know how to disable the power key? I searched on google, but couldn't find anything. I quickly scanned the past three pages of this forum and couldn't find anything either. I just had some photoshop guru come over and do a nice advertisement for me, and I accidentally hit the key, thus losing his work. I'm going to rip the key out any minute.

Anyone know of a better way to deal with this?

    thx

ps : Incase some of you remember, I used to have assloads of problems with my computer locking up. I ended up just sticking a big fan next to it, and it would still freeze, but not as often. Instead, I tuned my AGP slot down to 1, and now it never freezes.

    check your motherboard manual.
there is usually a setting for it in the bios, but it can sometimes be deactivated with a jumper setting.

jeef, its a key on the keyboard that has "Power" written on it. hence the name keyboard power key.

Wire?? what the fuck were you smoking.

And im sure you probably meant the Trace on the circuit pads underneath the keys, bit how the fuck is that easier then just turning the shit off in the bios?

because the thing in the bios is for POWER ON by keyboard, not power off.

and on my dad's keyboard, IT WAS A WIRE.

...but we have no idea if this is the same thing because he hasn't given any system specs.

Must be a prebuild HP/Compaq/Dell/Gateway/whatever... since off-the-shelf keyboards usually don't have this shit.

Try entering CMOS setup first and looking for an option first before taking more drastic measures. Maybe even replace the keyboard with a nicer one that doesn't have the button. I love my "natural keyboard".
