Have tried several brands that have a purple underside, none of these DVD+R's play on my PS2.
Only the DVD+RW that is silver works.
Where can I get DVD+R's that will work?, probably need silver substrates like the DVD+RW has.
Thanks !

Memorex, HP and Verbatim DVD+R and DVD+RW worked for me, Fujifilm DVD+R did not work, but Fujifilm DVD+RW worked. I have a US V5 ps2. I just got some sony DVD+R that I' going to try. I'll post results.
I used the Verbatim ones that were purple on the burn side on my APPLE V2 PS2 and they did not work. I tried the HP ones that were purple and did not work either. The HP DVD+RW did though.
I believe it has to do with the reflectivity of the disc. The purple does not seem as reflective as the silver of the DVD+RW and the laser has difficulty reading it.
This is similar to some CD Drives not reading the black CD-R's.
Does anyone know any DVD+R's that are silver undersided/substrate ?
Verbatim DVDR's have always been great for my V7 ps2. It really all depends on your ps2 though, they are very picky when it comes to DVDR media. Buy one or two of each kind at a store and see what you system likes the best and go with that. It sounds stupid, but better than buying a 50pk of generic crap and having it skip and freeze on you.
I tried sony dvd+r and it worked, here is a list of the dye colors:
purple- dvd+r verbatim, dvd+r HP (this is more like a light purple)
blue- dvd+r sony, dvd+r memorex, dvd+r fujifilm
grey- dvd+rw HP, dvd+rw memorex
(I lended all my dvd+rw fuji so I do not know the color right now)
