Apparently ITVD are asking for their boxes back or £40 to buy them, heard this on the radio this morning (Key 103 Manchester).

Has anyone else heard of this ??

Sounds like they're trying to scare as many people as possible into sending them £40.

I doubt they'll spend much time or money chasing those who choose to ignore their "Send us £40 now or else" letter.

This morning on Talk Sport Malcolm Shearson of Grant Thornton, the man now responsible for the ITV Digital liquidation gave an interview to Mike Parry & Alan Brazil. Malcolm Shearson stated that he had received some 600000 letters from former subscribers many who expressed their desire to return their boxes. When asked what the collection procedure would be he said that Grant Thornton would be arranging the collect of all the boxes. This is to be spread over a period of time due to the share size of the operation, and everyone who has a box will be contacted in due course. He was further put on the spot when Mike Parry asked him if he would take people to court for failing to return their box or coughing up £40.00. Malcolm Shearson replied that Grant Thornton wouldn’t invoke court proceedings and that they are relying on the good nature of the former subscribers to do the right thing. When asked about the subscribers, who had prepaid for the service and are owed money, he said that they are hoping to reach an agreement with those subscribers. He was also asked what would happen to the boxes to which he replied they would be refurbished as they have a commercial company interested in purchasing them.

it won't happen;

itvd's customers were (mostly) people who signed up for a year on the understanding that they get to keep the box. Since ITVD closed down THEY now owe people money, not the other way round!

Anyway what the f*ck is anyone going to do with a load of nokia mediamasters that take about 10 seconds to change channel or do anything lol
