How easy is it to install linux and how would go about configuring it as a web server and what additional software would I need?

Mandrake
Download Mandrake its grate and its easy should only take you about 1 hour to get it up and running.
Either download it from www.mandrake.com or look out for a copy on Linux Format which usly comes with Distros on DVD and CD.
