    Default tweaking thompson pot

ok none of the tutorials explain this part of the tweak therefore i'm asking for a little more detail when taking the reading off the pot in the drive i do this when :

a: the drive is turned on with power
b: the drive is turn off with power
c: the drive is disconnected no power
d: the drive is turned on with a cd in the cdrom tray
e: the drive is turned off with a cdrom in the tray

i'm sure they are more combinations but you get the idea.

You really should reconsider pot tweaking if you don't know the answer but it should be completely disconnected.

    Default figured

this is what i figured but the nthis is the problem when trying to get a reading off the pot it simply spikes to a number then drops to zero in a span of a second how do i get it to stabilize to get a reliable reading off of it so i can modify it accordingly this is really the only problem i'm having apparently ive done everything else correct i thought maybe there was something i was missing due to my previous post there obviously isn't

looks like you have a problem with your ohm meter. you should get a steady reading.

May be change the battery first, happened to me once.

I adjusted my laser to 970 ohms which worked well for about a month and then games stopped working except games buned on verbatim media.

Went to pc world and bought a £40 LG DVD-ROM drive and hooked it up to the xbox. Not pretty but everything works and its fast,no skipping on movies.
