    Default sky digi box

    Hi,

I was given a grundig sky digi box with no dish and have a couple of questions if someone could help.

    1. Can I receive channels on this without a card, fta? Is it worthwhile?

    2. I have an 80cm analogue dish can this be used or do I have to buy a new digi dish?

    3. Is it possible to install the dish without the need for a signal strength meter?

    Thanks in advance.

no 1 yes you can get some channels with out a card but you can phone up the bbc and get a free to air card for nothing

no 2 yes you can use a annalog dish but you will have to use a universal lnb

no 3 yes you can install it with out a meter your sky receiver has one built in if you fit your dish near to a window dont have to be right at the top of the house it will receive just as well at ground level providing you have a clear line of sight of the satellite in space
make sure you can see the tv from where you have the dish
just fit dish and connect receiver connect to tv switch tv on switch receiver on tune tv to receiver go in to receiver servises
no 4 system setup then go to no 6 signal test
this will give you its own meter reading
    signal strength and signal quility
move dish very slowly untill signal strength bar starts to move across
still moving dish slowly if signal strength peaks but youve got no signal quility you are probberly on the wrong satellite
just move dish around till you find another satellite and keep moving satellite dish untill signal quility starts to move then you are on the right satellite 28 east kepp moving dish un till signal quility peaks you should end up with more quility than strength
strength should be above half way and quility over 3/4 of the way up the bay when you have peaked your meter reading get hold of your lnb and rotate a little clock wise and signal should go up a little more
when you are happy with your readin tighten all nuts and bolts up and seal lnb where coax joins it with ammalgamating tape or with some type of sillicon sealant please do not use ellectritions tape as this will draw mosture in if you take your time it very easy

    Hi Aba,

    Thanks for the reply.

I haven`t set the box up yet so I didn`t know about the meter on it.

I`ll print out this guide and set the dish up and report back with how I get on.

    Thanks again
