    Default Restart's all the time!

    Hi!

I'm having problem with a computer that always restarts when I get into windows.
I've tried formating the disk and reinstall windows but still the same problem.
    I've also cleared the bios.
Nothing seems to help. Could it be the motherboard or cpu who has a damage of some sort?

Hi there, what Windows version do you have?

Sounds very much like it's a software issue (driver), since you've been able to reinstall Windows without it crashing/rebooting.

So when you did a clean install, with no additional hardware (external) attached, no other drivers other than what comes with Windows, it rebooted immediately once it reached the desktop?

How about if you boot to safe mode, does it behave the same?

If you have XP, go to the properties of My Computer-Advanced-Startup&Recovery Settings and uncheck "Automatically Restart", next time you encounter a problem, instead of a reboot, you should get an error message.

    All the best

Do you have the correct power PSU for your CPU ? If you have upgraded recently and the PSU is struggling it can cause crashes - I had this issue when I bought a 1Gig Athlon a while back - checked on AMD's website and the PSU I had was only recommend up to 800mhz - got a new one and never had a problem again.

    Cheers

I thought about it but I can't think that's the problem.
You see that the computer has worked perfect in 3 years now, with the same PSU and everything.

    Default shutting down problem

    Hi
So what your saying is when you boot up,it loads windows
and when it gets to the desktop it shuts down every time.
If this is so you have a virus.
I forget the name of it but i have had it a couple of times
and so have a few mates who have recieved mails from me.
The only way out is a format.
I found this out by doing a search on google with my problem.
Also does it shut down and re-start in a loop.

I have been able to reinstall Windows and without it crashing/rebooting but when I came to the desktop after I'm finished installing windows, the same problem appear.

I had no additional hardware attached the computer during install, testing and so on.

    The computer were using Win98

    Its because of microwave radiation...

Try resetting the bios to default values, as you might have a problem with some of the settings there, causing a IO fault

Try booting up windows in Safe mode and running it for an hour or so (past a decent amount of time to satisfy yourself its stable) if it ****s up or reboots in bout same time as b4 9even after reload) then its a hardware issue.

If its stable in safe mode then its a s/w issue.

Before the reset do you get any error message? if so what is it or the gist of the message.

fatal **** messages generally indicate to ram, runnin a decent ram test such as www.simmtester.com (free app there) will prob suss out any major ram flaws.

if no message then id try swappin out the psu and/or check fans r goin round and at a decent pace.

any other faults after all that or probs note em down and any hardware changes or wierd shit, soon solve it

I had the same issues as jagr. Searched for new drivers and Robert's your Auntie's Husband.
