My son has just invested £40 of his paper round riches on a fast and furious Suzuki x1.Trouble is its been standing out in the open for several months with no petrol cap on the tank ,tank fills with water' bike wont start. Anyone any suggestions on how to fix,
    Thanks in advance

first off get a petrol cap.then drain the water and clean the tank out as theres prob a load of rust in there.then put a little petrol in something like a washing up bottle(should be empty to start with)
and connect the fuel pipe from the carb to the bottle cap.(this is acting as a temp fuel tank to see if you can start it).make sure you clean out the carb (it will be full of water and a load of other debri.once cleaned and reassembled and connected you can try and start it.It wont start straight away.chances are you will have to clean the sparkpluk or even buy a new one.this might get it started but then again it might need a complete stripdown and new gaskits and seals fitting and the electrics will need a check over as the standered wiring aint the best at withstanding corrosion.
Its a start point and I hope it helps.
(might be worth investing in a workshop manuel for more detailed info on this model).
