    Default xbox temperature

I was wondering if cold temperatures can cause the xbox not to boot up properly, because this has happened to me twice now where i have turned the xbox on and it has flashed green 3 times followed by the red flashing. Both times i had been out the house so my heating was off and these were extremely cold days, so after a few minutes once my room had heated up i tried again and it worked fine. Does anyone know if it is the processor, graphics chip or the executer 2 lite chip that can be affected by cold temps?

Yeah I've seen 1 like this before most likely a bad joint on the X2 somewhere - I just touched up all the points again to fix it.

AS hookerman said its goiing to be a connection not the temp - as in electronics it works in reverse of your problem. If its too hot it may fail but the colder the better - your thinking of it like a car engine and its not.

    Is it chipped ?

Are you sure that the temperature cant affect the proccessor? the exact same thing happened to my PC as well on start up saying that it hung at incorrect speed and i can only assume that it was the cold that caused this as well, as it has only happened on extremely cold day. I'm pretty confident that its not the solder as i done it myself

Unless its the PSU not working correctly on the first try - sometime these need to warm up - but CPU graphic memory etc work better when its cold - hence the Fans on Graphics cards and CPUS . Some PC's are cooled like fridges to minus 35 degrees - these can be overclocked massiviely as the CPU's run so well.

Yeah from what ive gathered the cpu needs to be at a certain temp for it to start operating so you're right about it needing a few attempts to warm up. Im from Scotland and a few of the days in march have been absolutley ****ing baltic even colder than in january so i guess its just the weather to blame :cheese: roll on the summer:therock:
