    Default Thicko needs help!!

Have had Humax plus funcard/silvercard for 3 years now and appreciate all the help over the years - have helped where I can (limited knowledge!).

I now have NTL digital box (basic package) plus cable internet access.

A friend has given me an old chipped analague box that he says if I plug in and wait for about half an hour - all the channels will clear.

I have a couple of questions

    1) How much longer will anaologue last and are there only a limited number of channels available?
    2) If I unplug my digital box and then plug in the analogue box - can NTL tell?
    3) Can I plug the boxes in line or is ther such thing as a splitter that splits the signal (again would NTL be able to tell).

Probably wont use it much - but may come in use for the odd rugby or footie match - assuming you can receive sky sports etc???

Thanks for any info in anticipation.

most ch are there incl skysports and the movies no box office.who knows how long it will last believe they still offer subs to it.

usually the callback has been disabled on modded boxs so should be fine.check if unsure.

yes there is a splitter avail and no they wont know

all the sports are still there..

    Default A bit more clarification

    Many thanks arthurdaily.

Just a couple more questions then............

My mate used the analogue box for ages - so does that mean the callback is disabled on the analogue box and I should therefore be ok?

If I use a splitter and the digital box is not modded in any way but the analogue box is modded with callback disabled - will they still not be able to tell - even if I have the cable internet connection through the digital box?

Just out of curiosity - what is callback and how does it work?

Cheers and many thanks for the info.

most likely the analogue has been modeed so that it will not send a signal back to ntl (so you are safe)

If I use a splitter and the digital box is not modded in any way but the analogue box is modded with callback disabled - will they still not be able to tell - even if I have the cable internet connection through the digital box?
no they will not be able to tell, my mate is doing the exact same thing

Just out of curiosity - what is callback and how does it work?
Talkback is a signal that is constantly sent to ntl that tells them the status of your box, with talkback enabled you can use the interactive services and if there is any faults with the box ntl will know about it.
