    Default Hardware Firewall Recommendations

    Guys,

Can anyone recommend a cheap (say sub £120) hardware firewall?

My Alcatel Speedtouch Pro with Firewall is only allowing 50 rules and I need more

I'm not too keen on going the old pc/linux route due to the noise/config/installing two nics/etc.

Basically I need port forwarding/blocking; VPN support and website blocking would be nice but it's not important.

    Thanks for listening.

Search E-Bay for an Efficient Networks 5861 Integrated DSL Router, you will find them being sold for around the £80 - £100 mark by skint BT engineers.
They are a modem, Router, Firewall, Hub, DHCP Server, etc all in one package.
Once you've got it, do a search of this board for posts by me and you will find full instructions on how to unlock it and an example firewall script to help you set the firewall up.

    P.S
They normally retail at £450, so you know it's not cheap $hite.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

Just to let you know I got one for £60 and it looks like the dogs bollox.

From what I have read you can emulate NAT and no-NAT together which is fantastic news for me:

Now I just need to get rid of this BT firmware rubbish

You'll be surprised what these babies can do, none of that other cheap crap out there even comes close to a 5861

Be careful as it is easy to configure incorrectly (i've just spent the best part of 45 mins doing another members router remotely this evening), or you can fcuk it up completely if you get it wrong.
If you get stuck, just ask.
