    Default Floppy Drive Problem

All of a sudden my floppy drive will not back up anything, I keep getting a message saying the disk I am writing to is write protected, when it is not.

I thought the floppy drive had gone, bought a new one - exact same problem, so I can only assume it is software (Windows XP)related....can anyone help?

    Hi smytho

Have you tried another cable and the bios settings for the floppy drive when you boot up ? Just an idea.

Got it fixed now, there was an option in the BIOS for the floppy and hard drive to be Read only or Read / Write for some reason they had changed to Read only - think my son has a bit od explaining to do.
