Bit Torrent

Does anybody know why lots of the torrent sites are down ? I realise lots of 'em come under DoS attack but it seems strange that so many are down at once.

There is some press today about the downloading of copies of the Matrix Reloaded like this from the BBC I wonder if that's got anything to do with it ?

As bit torrent seems to work on a peer to peer basis (i.e. ordinary users share what they have) i doubt that they have all been caught and stopped for sharing illegal sofware (i know i havent

). I'd guess that the servers are down for sum reason or other, maybe coincidence, maybe a echnical bug or maybe they have been stopped by the government, who knows

Well why the F**k did it take me, 30 odd then!

From my experience of the centropy release this is an obvious misprint and should read 'in about three days'

I have no idea why there all down at the same time but its doing my head in!

torrents started off really well, id usually get 50+k a sec but now its just awful, my upload it always 3 times my download and its very rare i get over 30k/s.

So ive gone back to IRC.

oddly its the larger sites that are having the problems, use the smaller ones and there isnt much of a problem.

its the big sites that have the trackers for the torrents that are getting hammered, the new stuff is about you just need to work a little harder.

@manc, there are already about 2 dozen torrent irc chans running (although most deal with anime)

news release saying there is great qual matrix dvd on bittorrent is a good way of getting servers hammered even if it dont exist its helping to stop torrent
