    Default Oversea's Helpdesk's

After constantly hearing of yet more new companies using cheap 3rd world countries for their British helpdesks I really wanna start boycotting those who are guilty!

The problem is, I can't find anywhere on the web that lists the companies that are doing it?

Surely, someone must have started a website on this topic???
(If its out there, i'll be buggered if I can find it?)

Anyone come across such info on the web?????

    Cheers

    Errm, guilty of what exactly?
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

I wonder if the people staffing the helpdesks in these third world countries would be able to spell overseas helpdesks without inserting unnecessary apostrophes?

Replacing British jobs with cheap oversea's labour.

However, I REALLY object to the way they try to stealth what they are doing...

These Helpdesks are setup to totally fool the caller to think they are calling a British Helpdesk. The employees are given a whole new British persona and they are even given daily British newspapers and shown episodes of Eastenders to help the employees keep up the pretence.

    I call it lying

If this practice is so squeaky clean – then why the need to cover up and gloss over the origin of the Helpdesk?

its called outsourcing and is one of the largest and most profitable markets to be in at the momment.

Rising costs in markets over ere mean for companies to excel or stay in competetion they need to lower costs hence they outsource.

I dont agree with it but its business.

I know of 2 companys that have outsourced to overseas locations. There is BT & recently I have heard Tesco are doing it.

In the defense of BT though nobody lost there jobs as such. Everyone who worked at 192 was offered a job working in different dept of the company.

I don't agree with jobs going overseas but if nobody loses jobs in our country as a result of it then no harm is being done.
There's someone in my head but it's not me

If the cost of living over here was as cheap in say, a country like India then the call centres would be over here Wizer. However, because our cost of living is significantly higher (thanks to our wonderful government) then the companies concerned really have no choice but to outsource or go out of business (unless of course you are happy to work for £2000 per year).

I suspect that the various employees are given daily newspapers & the like to help them get a better grasp of the english language, not to cover up the true source of the helpdesk location (why should it matter to anybody where the helpdesk is anyway?)

I work for one of the larger outsourcing companies and we must have about 1000 people over in India - in time it will probably come due to the lower costs but last I heard there's a new player in the game and they're undercutting the Indians, can't remember where it was off the top of my head though.

A lot of development stuff seems to be heading over India nowadays though.....
