I don't know whether to or not.

In principle it's a good idea but my mind casts back to the naming and shaming a few years ago when people were being attacked in the streets and angry yobs/gangs started to not only direct violence towards the offenders but it gave them a false sense of self righteousness.

Whilst any c*** that does that stuff to kids should be strung up and the key thrown away I think this just breeds yob culture and we may as well start dunking witches again to see if they drown.

Say for example everyone did know where the offenders lived, do you think they would just go...'Okay doke, thanks for letting me know...'

They'd be down the police, council, etc demanding action be taken and if it isn't - their own fears will get the better of them and they'll take the law into their own hands.

The solution relies with the government releasing them in the first place.

Oh and if they are going to do that then they need to release the names of murderers and rapists too so I can look out for my wife.

I'm sure if that gets passed then that's the next thing to happen.

They get rid of capital punishment, we can't spank our kids, the country is full of immigrants who have become the new lawbreakers....... and they wonder why it gets like this.....

    Very well said Gel

    Common sense!

In situations like this you would have to assume that the lowest of the low will get hold of this info. While (how can I put this tactfully) "normal citizens" will use this info as it was intended, i.e. to warn , some will most definitely misuse it

Must be treated extremly carefully imo

The site says sever penalities but I should imagine if someone is wrongly accused and loses their life no penalty would be severe enough

i too agree with gels point, this could be very dangerous, yet thinking of new ways to protect children is obviously important.

"Importantly, Home Secretary David Blunkett has pledged legislation to ensure no sex offender can ever be freed until it is certain they pose no risk to our children." If this is the case then there is no need to know if someone is an ex ofender.

On that point, what happens if the information is leaked out (it always happens).

Who will pay the costs involved in moving every single offender, reformed or not to a new location?

It's bad when you think about it how movements like this are started by relatives of the victims. They are the most biased and irrational yet everyone takes in what they say.

In a way I sypmathise with their condition.
Nobody wakes up on a morning and thinks "right I fancy being a pheodephile"
It must be a condition that they cant help. Like with most heterosexual males, they cant help the urge to want to shag fit woman.
What they can help though is to resist the urges.
Which is the same for pheodophiles, and obviously a lot of them cant resist these urges.
Councilling, punishment etc cant stop the urges, it just gives them more reason to resist the urges.

Is it right that if they have their balls cut off, they no longer have any sexual urges?

If that true why dont the goverment cut em off, castrate them!
Fuck it, if they have offended then its a fair cop! Off with the knackers, them teach em knitting and send them on their way!
