    Default Disconecting for no reason

I keep getting disconnected, its happening about 5-15minutes after I connect, I'm not getting an error message it just wont load any web pages, conect to IRC etc... If I click disconect it wont let me reconect, I have to disconect from ADSL alltogether and then re-conecct to ADSL and then reconect to PIPEX. I've checked the disconect if idle, and thats on 'never'. I've rang PIPEX and they reckon its my modem, but the modem people say its my ISP (PIPEX). I aint got a clue but as you can imagine its damn annoying as I can d/l anything of considerable size. Anyone else had this problem before? Or have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Have you spoken to BT mate?

I had a similar problem about a year ago and it was the line that was hosed...

BT replaced it and it's been fine to this day...

Also, have you tried a different filter?

    Have you got Sky???

Just had mine upgraded to Sky+ and the second box re-sited, that caused me to random disconnect. Unplugged it and no problems.

Other things are too many fones on your line - over the max REN.

Or a phone plugged in somewhere without a filter.

    Hope this helps

I had a similar issue, I thought it was the Tivo, which was using its modem each night (similar to sky) but it turned out to be the cheap filters I was using - Evilbob lent me a Alactel filer and now its been up for over a week.

thanks for the replies guys, tried them all to no avail , for some reason though they dissconnects seem to be farer apart atm. One interesting thing I noticed is that sinced I got a new desk for my P.C I ended up moving the adsl modem quite near the speaker, just before the disconnect I hear a large static type sound from the speakers !?!?!?!

You could be getting "hits" on the line.

I would ring BT tech support and explain the symptoms cos they might run a line check for you.
