    Default analogue cable?

    Hey guys,

sorry a little OT but im sure someone will have info/suggestions for me

I'm moving into a student house soon, looking at getting an ntl package - seems that analogue works out cheaper than digital cable and they say there not phasing out analogue till 2009! - thought it was much sooner!

would anyone advise against going analogue for any reason?

Currently there is no cable in the house but looks like its been there in the past as there is the grey box and old white cables comming into the house.

We would get the main box downstairs, but I have a feed comming into my room, and by luck have aquired an old GI CFT 2100 cable box, would it be easy to get a chip or something for this old box and hook it up to the feed in my room to get all channels?

much risk of being cought? assume they wouldnt be that bothered about analogue anymore?

    cheers for any info, tom999

interesting, so any other channels that are digital only?

wouldnt bother me if its only a few as it looks like hooking up this analogue box would be a lot easier than getting hold of a digital one

anyone know about buying chips for the boxes? the RFT (?) things u plug into the feed look expensive

    cheers, t

Chip the CFT2100 - Use Hexgen4 to produce hex for a PIC 12C509, program it or get someone to do it for you. Follow the connection details given in Hexgen for your CFT2100.

Chances are your feed from the cable co is still live & you can use the box to get all analogue channels still available.

The above to educational purposes only of course.

yes they do most work in most areas , for example phase 1b will work t/w or ntl , just a matter of changing the net id + freq,
