    Default Soggy 3330

My wife accidentally gave her nokia 3330 a dip in the loo, fished it out promptly but didnt open it to dry it, I only found out later and put it in the airing cupboard minus the battery and sim card (which survived and works in another phone) overnight. At first the display text was scrolling round the screen when I powered it up again, after a spell on the radiator the text read normally, but after about 30 seonds it shows "CONTACT SERVICE" and turns itself off. Is there any hope for this phone or is it a goner?

if it works atall then it will probably be repairable, just leave it swithced off.

the water itself wont damage the phone beyond repair, but the corrosion caused by the water and the short cuircuits could so don't turn it on and make sure you keep the phone as sepeate parts, ie covers+phone+battery+sim all separate. this will make it dry out fully. then you can either get it repaired, or sell it as "needs repair" and buy a new one.

my mum washed my brothers phone in the washing machine(by mistake) and it still worked for about 20 minutes after she took it out and turned it on whilst still dripping wet. it gradually deteriorated and when I got home and got her to dry it out it was well and trully knackered, and at that time the 3310 that he had cost £100 so she was a bit short of money that week becuase of it.

just keep it turned off and keep it dry and you will be able to repair it.

You are better off getting it in an ultrasonic bath asap - don't just leave them to dry as the corrosion will bugger them up.

If the fone works now then there is an 80% chance that it will be ok (if it's done now)

My m8's shop says it's xx amounts of pounds if it can be fixed and they don't charge you if it cannot be done,,, your local shop may be the same.
