    The 105 only does -R/W he wants on that does both +R/W and -R/W!

    I would honestly reccommend the Pioneer-106, I've never used or seen the NEC writer so I can't comment on that and if you look in the DVD section of the forums then you'll see people are having problems writing at 4x on the Sony DVD writer (this may have been sorted bu no though). I've got a Pioneer-104 and it hasn't let me down yet!

    If you want a Pioneer-106 or a NEC you can get them both from here: http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acata...Section__.html, they used to have the Sony one in as well, but it's not there anymore!

    im using the pioneer 106 as well and its an excellent writter and it pretty much compatible with all media if you look at dvdr sites like svp.co.uk or bigpockets.co.uk the one DVDRW drive that burns all the cheap and good media is the pioneer drives you can see this on each medias information it will say things like not compatible with sony drives or something pioneer drives are never on the no list.

    ooh just did a quick price check on the 106:

    bigpockets = £139
    ebuyer = £121
    SVP = £119

    (all prices include vat and delivery)

    prices are dropping (same as they did when the 106/a06 was announced...) there may be a faster writer in our midsts...

    now all i need is a cheap xbox (dropping to £100.soon..)

    just found this!!

    I am aware of some people having compatability issues with the 106 and Stomp Record Now Max.

    Why do you particularly need + and - DVD R? I'd stick with an 105, update the firmware to give you 4X read speed, and just make sure you get decent media (Ritec G04 dye). You should be fine with that unless there is a particular reason for dual- I think there is more life left in the + vs - debate than there would be in a drive anyway, so I'm not sure future proofing would be worth the extra cash.

    Cheers,

    Jules

    106 is the best choice NEC/Sony are still a tad poor in DVD media types although NEC recently updated there firmware and its alot better...

    Id still go 106D can be had for 120ish quid from ebuyer. Nero 6 and your sorted really
