    FDISK N' Hardrive...

Got a new 120gb hd. It's recognised by Bios on boot, but as soon as going to Fdisk (Win 98SE & ME boot disk) FDisk only recognises 500 or so Meg. I've tried all relevant jumpers and IDE ports, but still can't access full drive value.

Had this problem before but for hell nor leather can I remember how I got round it.

    Prompts, anyone??!

    Thanks.

IIRC, if you use percentages of drivespace (rather than actual numbers of Gb or Mb) to create the partitions then fdisk will work ok - I think that's how I created partitions on my 120Gb drives anyway.

If it's from someone like IBM, seagate or Maxtor they all have very good little utils that do it all for you.

Is a Maxtor disk. Got util from their site which worked fine, and all done and dusted now. Guess problem was with FDisk...

    Thanks.

Did you get the option of Yes or No for large Disk Support when you ran FDisk.

If you did you most likely selected NO so it won't partition anything above 500MB.

If you didn't get the option then you have a old version of Fdisk but that shouldn't be the case if your boot disk is windows 98/Me.

Try another bootdisk. Download here http://www.bootdisk.com

Drive overlay software is cool - but getting the ****er off is easier said than done.
