There are good savings to be made in bringing a car to the uk from Japan.
The only real problem is the excise duties , shipping costs , and the paperwork is a right pain in the arse.
The sva test is a bastard of a job on some motors too, and is about to get a lot worse with the disabled exemption getting ruled out by the government.
More and more cars are arriving with parts stolen during shipping or suffering some sort of damage, this is getting a problem.
There are loads of companies specialising in importing cars and some are very good indeed though and do provide good insurance cover.
The market for jap imports is a bit saturated at the moment with peeps jumping on the bandwagon trying to make a few quid.
I have suffered some bad experiences bringing cars over, but the good ones far outweigh the bad, and with the right knowhow good money can be made out of it.
