Movie File Extensions that work on xbox

Hi, what movie files play back on the xbox once they have been ftp'd to the HDD. got some .DAT files, im using the evolution x install with the latest media player.am i gonna have to transfer the .dat too.

avi.
mpeg.
divx.

etc etc.?

i suppose TMPGenc is the software to use?

Or is ther a piece of software created for the xbox to recreate the file?

it tells you in xbmps config file

id presume .dats are just mpeg off a vcd?

You can get a util called dr divx which will convert most files into high quality divx which seems to be the best format for the xbox

if all you want is the straight mpg off your vcd use vcdgear

get it at http://www.vcdgear.com

From there if you wanted compression I'd say go with xvid (encode with VirtualDub)

XBMP will let you access .bin files so you dont even need to copy over the .dat.
