I'm seriously thinking of getting it, currently playing DAoC, but after readng about all the bugs in the US version i'm not so sure, anyone played on the UK servers at all?

One review which really worried me summed up a big problem with this

Many people will want to become a Jedi. The route to becoming a Jedi is to obtain a holocron and follow the career path it dictates. Unfortunately the only way to get these holocrons is by looting them off the corpses of force sensitie NPCs. Because the holocrons are rare, this means you'll have to go on a murderous rampage, something which doesn't quite fit in with the image I have of Yoda or Obi-wan. Once you have your holocron you need to pursue the career you're given, even if it's something you're not interested, like Chef (a Jedi chef?)

I have been playing it for the last two nights and it is superb. I am a bit of a Star Wars fan so I am in my element. The worlds are huge and diverse, and you can travel between then and build your own houses and businesses. You can pretty much do anything and the graphics are superb. The $14.99 is a bit steep considering the game was £25 but you get a months free trial. I am looking forwad to playing it again tonight and hopefully learning how to actually do something other than running around and killing things (but it is still fun if you want to do that).

I would be interested if anyone else off DF was in my galaxy coz, it is a laugh when you get a few of you together.

I am on Farstar at the moment and my ingame name is Martin

One thing, do not buy if you are not a powergamer and want to be Jedi, it will take an age.

But with the recent release of Mounts and Cities its getting better Vehicles in the next few months.

Oh and if you are joining up..we need more rebels!

Cheers and maybe see you there :

I beleive that you get 10 character saves! I am progressing nicely, learning the basics, getting towards being an animal handler so I can get some double hard ceratures to do my bidding! Also learning how to make weapons and traps etc.
Spent 3 hours yesterday running between two cities (got a bit lost), and some other human player gave me 10,000 credits because I was a newbie!!

I'm thinking about getting this but am not sure at the mo. Some reviews that I've read say it's horribly repetetive and that is why I ditched EQ in the end. I had a little dabble with Asherons Call 2 but got fed up again when you get to the stage of needing to kill 3000 monsters to go up to the next level.

What do you reckon then? Is it any good?

So you're the slayer. You're prettier than the last one.

Well just had my first hours' worth of SWG play and gotta say, first impressions are not good. Was a big EQ + DAoC fan and both were pretty newbie friendly too, this on the otherhand is far from it. The interface is clunky, it wont let you redefine all the keys, so the key setup i use for all my games wont work

Also when in a group, group messages were taking about 30 seconds to appear, normal /tell and regular chat was fine but group messages were well slow.

Yeah graphics are nice, ability to have multiple professions are nice, but that's about it atm, very dissapointed at day one.

Planning on having a proper go at the weekend.

_Belial, I found it took me about 10 hours to actually grasp what I was doing properly but when you are 'in the zone' it is very good!

gunner, any tips you can give? At this point i dont even know if i can be arsed to give it 10 hours of play time and may just go back to DAoC.

What server do you play on? Do you get any lag on group chats at all? i'm only on 128k ISDN but everything else but group chat was fine, even my mate on same server (Europe - CHimear?) who is on 2MB ADSL had same lag.

Really wanted to get into it, but it's just not being very friendly

Yea, I have found the crowded areas of the cities very laggy, but they are working on fixing this (I am on 1MB Adsl). Your best bet is to chose a profession and follow one of the guides on the star wars galaxies websites. Also get into a group to maximise your xp. My Wookie is starting to take shape, he is training to be a scout but it is important to have some sort of combat skill so you don't get battered! I am on Azazi server (I think that is how it is spelt) and the planet is Correllia. I am a massive wookie called MobassaMbomba. I am on most week nights

Well after a week's play i gotta say i'm lovin' it. It took me a good day or two of seroius play to get into the whole thing, initially i just wanted to quit and get back into DAoC but now i'm hooked. Been on tatooine for a week but ventured to naboo just for a cahnge last night, the variety between the planets is great, stuff like eq and daoc just don't compare to this.

Now a week on i'm still not quite a CH but i'm almost there, jsut need to build up hunting IV I hear that vehicles are being introduced in a week or two so that will help a lot with travelling. My only problem at the moment is how easy it is to get cash and just buy the stuff you're trying so hard to build up to, for example, pets + mounts. Would take you a week to build a character up to be a CH and train mounts but just spend about 2 hours doing deliver missions at 900 a go and with 15k in the bank you can just buy one, that's a real shame.

Anyway if you dont have this game, buy it. If you're already playing another MMORPG, give it a rest and play this one. If you dont have a PC, go buy one and get this

There's still a few bugs and the occassional crash in there, but it's nowhere near as buggy as the reviews of the initial release said and there are regular patches too which helps.

I'm on europe-chimaera and called Cuthulu.

I have to agree with _Belial, I have been playing for 2 weeks now and I am hooked (about 6 hours a night). I am almost a master scout and about to get carbines IV, which will make my big game hunting all that more easier.
I am also a Sergent for the Rebel's which is a bit of a ******* as Storm Troopers (double hard) shoot on sight. I got my first Creature mount, and I am now spending allot of time hunitng in the swamps of Corellia.
Still not a member of a guild, but I am going to join in the future and get involved in some real player v player battles. I am also almost a novice CH.

_Belial - If you start a new character, let me know what server you are on and we will meet up.
