Default XBOX V1.4 Tech Problem?? L'LL Help?

I have a problem with a V1.4 XBOX that I thought you guys may have seen before. The explanation is a bit long but if you can help at all it might shed some light. Thanks for taking the time.

It was my first V1.4 conversion and hadn't noticed the FOCUS Video chip.
I installed the good old Chameleon with Executer BIOS and of course it didn't go.
Tried another thinking It was a bad FLASH, still no go!
Decided to consult the BIBLE (xbox-scene.com) and discovered V1.4 Bugger!
FLASHED a few Chameleons with the Evox M7 BIOS, (Like the new Excuter better, thanks guys great job!)
    Still no go!!

    The symptoms:
Power cycles three times with the Green Led and then continuosly Flashes the the Red/Amber. It does this even after I removed all mod hardware and wires.
I have checked for Solder splashes under magnification and all original Solder Pads seem to be in good shape.

    The curiosity:
I hate being beaten so I have been working on this (my only failure to date) for a long time. If I add a resister (2M Ohm) between Pin 5 of the Mod socket and the small through hole solder point directly opposit (where Pin 4 would go) it works as per normal as an original XBOX.
I noticed this through hole solder point has a track that ends just before PIN 5, does anyone know if plays some lead or capacitive effect on from Pin 5??
Can anyone suggest anything or can anyone direct me to Tech info on XBOX Architecture??
However it still does not work with a mod chip.

    Thanks guys,

my 1.3 xbox started doing the amber/red flashing after doing an IGR, i dunno whats caused it and sadly i cant find a fix for it either. The Red lite means theres a hardware failure and the amber means problem with the video.
Hope you can find a fix, maybe itll work for me

I have done mods on V1.4 since and the Evox M7 Bios has always worked great. Looks like I could be left with an X-Box that only works as an X-Box! But I don't understand the theory of why this resister makes it work! I found it by accident when I was cleaning the pads with alcohol and turned it on before it had totaly evaporated. All of a sudden it worked! But as the resistance of this joint gets above approx 2.5Meg Ohm it stops working!!!

Why not just solder the links and flash the onboard with M7 or the new 4979, works a treat with 1.4
    (using the 007 'feature')

I was going to but the fact that it doesn't run at all unless this resistor is in makes me wonder if I might not induce a permanent problem.

The top DOT of the colon is the very small through hole plated solder joint that I connected one end of the resister to. The other to Pin 5. You'll see that small solder Pad has a track extending to Pin 5 it looks like it actually connects to it but it doesn't!
