Anyone know how to take the air out of a bottle without using the straw technique?

Was down the pub last night and we was all together having drinking competitions as you do, and people were using the straw technique with the bottle and i just wondered is there any other way you can get the air out of the bottle without using a straw.

I have used the straw trick myself and usually end up with most up my nose.

Theres a way to down it without using the straw technique. When ur drinking it, dont put all ur mouth over the bottle opening. Leave a small bit where air can escape from. Its not as good or as easy as the straw but still certainly works

Take the air out of a bottle? Surely you mean put the air in?

Never really rated shotguns. By the time you've carved the hole, I'd have already finished a can... Where's the speed in that?
It's not as if the beer comes out any quicker either...
