Corsa/grundig R100

I have re-fitted the original radio to a corsa (nice radio removed prior to selling car) which is a Grundig R100. I have the code but when I switch on ignition, switch on radio while holding in AS button it displays SAFE instead of showing 10_ _ _ _ after 3 seconds. Can anyone tell me what to do?

either a fuse blown on the back of the set of fusebox, common fault on these is the ign switch the supply for the rad is taken from it and has a problem if all fuses ok the take a new ign supply from the cig lighter

Thanks Mike but i don't really understand this. The set has power because when off the screen is blank. When switched on it displays "safe" (with AS held in at same time as switch on) so it is locked.
