This sounds Cool and all and my dads register for a card...BUT

i think getting your elivs out might be a bit premature
(i dont no shit about this so if this is aload of balls tell me so)
Because as with the 'zaps' from onD and ITVD couldnt they tell who was usein the cards....and target the area to zap?

if so as it just starts out wont it be easy for them to tell where a fake card is being used and if theres like only 2 people in that area.....or wot ever couldnt they come knocking (or at least send tradin standtards round?)

just a thought...but like i said i no jack shite about this so if im rong and its all bollox tell me

    Cam.

(17:18:34) (+Cam) i need to mount my xbox hdd in linux
(17:19:02) (+SpikeWork) youth of today, they'll mount anything

There's no way of them knowing who's using dodgy cards.

There's no feedback from the box at all, it is only a receiver

I have two, the barstards kept trying to arrange to collect them, but I just remembered the date I agreed and didnt answer the door that day.

Then they went facking bust! Damn use em for the freeview now.

Told my mate who has a Digital TV who bought the elvis when the scam was going b4, about the potential new channels, the daft cu nt has thrown his elvis away. :|
I wouldnt mind but he could probably have sold it ages ago on E-bay for 30 quid. :| :|

If this is defo gonna be coming back on it would be best to start buying your elvi (plural for elvis) now if theres any about b4 it becomes popular and the price gets hiked!

I was quessing that they would update the cam as it says on the topup tv website "Your compatible ex-ITV Digital or ON Digital set top box will need a software download to update it" which i presume ment the cam coz what company is going to launch a subscription based tv service with a encryption system that has been hacked for years (ex on digital of course ) and I doubt if the original siemens sle44/66 seca1 cards are still manufactured. I could be wrong though but I would bet £1m that they'll be using seca 2 cards

If its only going to be a limited service and at about £10 per month then surely if changing from s1 to s2 cant be done via software then they cant justify upgrading boxes with a new cams and still make money i would assume that there would be very little take up at the start due to the limited service so cashflow would be tight.

but if u see them puttin the card wen u update your box on

channell 26 looks like a normal card to me and i guess they

put it in the slot not in the cam bit its only software to take the new

card to make it work so i'm guessin will have to ask about sum more

the cam is built into the box that is where the card goes :| the cam slot on the back was for future use to take cams of other encryptions anyway a cam update would not be hard or that expensive to do coz they done it with boxes all over europe when the digital sat providers changed to the new encryptions seca2/irdeto2/via2 etc

I have just visited there site and at the moment it is only compatible with about 90% on ex ondigi boxes, so cant just be using seca1, if they are using seca1 then maybe there has been some kind of improvement that has a software issue with some of the ex ondigi boxes.

    Only can wait and see?

What does a cam cost, £10 connection + £10 monthly £20.00, they dont hold you to a contract of more than 30 days so if they was updating the cams then they would have to buy them for less than £10.00 to justify the system, rest of europe i assume tie you in to a 12 month contract and offer a full package not just a limited service.

They are not buying the cams and you do not require a new cam. The cams are BUILT INTO THE BOX (well ex ondigital boxes anyway) hence it only needs an over the air software download to update them and what does that cost? This is what happened when the europeen sat providers changed encryptions, cams were upgraded over the air, no new cam needed. Seriously what would the future hold for topup tv if they used the seca1 system and everyone and their granny were knocking out goldcards right left and centre? :nowords:

if s1 to s2 can be done by software alone then maybe they will introduce s2, and maybe the upgrade only works in 90% of ex digi boxes as per there website only supporting 90% of these.

Thought they needed new cams, my mistake.

Can intergrated TV's be upgraded via software aswell, its just that they dontt support them, or do they need a new cam.

    Cheers

Yes, intergrated TV's can be upgraded via an over the air software download. The problem is that most of the intergrated TV's that have been sold over the past couple of years don't have a CAM as it's not needed for Freeview.
