    Default Obvious Question

    Simple Queston on this topic,

Is there anything in the diagnostic or ECU of cars to store the mileage too? i.e if you correct the mileage on the dash. Would the dealer/technician know when they plugged in the car for a service...?

    Your thoughts please, lads.

Cheers for the quick reply Robbo,

But does the ECU not store any historical data on how many RPM etc.. that the car has been through? Or am I thinking that normal cars are not that smart yet (except the Mclaren F1...)

Some cars do0 hold "interesting" info in the ECU, such as most new Porsche, They hold Hrs below 3000rpm, Hrs above 3000rpm, how many red-lines you done, mileage etc etc. So YES, in some cases the ECU needs re-programmed as well as the dash.
