User Accounts

Rite guys, im hoping one of you smart doods can help me out or our kid is gonna kill me.

Rite, he wanted to create a new user account for his daughter so she couldnt see his faves, icons etc, easy right, WRONG, i talked him through it on the phone, got to create new account, it asked do u want to create an admin account or limited, he picks limited and it said u cannot create a limited account until you log in as adminstrator, but there wasnt already any account there.

So he creates a new admin account, then created the second limited account, only thing now is both these accounts are brand new and all his old desktop/folders/files have all vanished, he had loads of word documents and mp3,s on the pc, i just did a search for *.doc and they deffo have all gone.

So guys im begging now (im dsperate) is there any way at all to get the stuff back, or get the pc to the state it was in before he started trying to create accounts.

any ideas GREATLY appreciated guys

fukcin hell if only, i wish it would have been that easy m8, i had to turn off sys restore coz thats how a virus was gettin into MY pc, so i turned it off on his aswell.

it must still know the original account is there coz when u choose log off/switch user the 2 new accounts are there, and in the bottom left corner it says TURN OFF CHRIS which must have been the account before he added any new ones

Firstly, using system restore won't bring back any user accounts so you can forget that one.

Check C:\Documents and Settings to see if the area where his user profile data is stored is still there.

If it is, then all of his personal data is still intact.

If it isn't, then it's all gone.

If the Chris folder is still there, then post back.

already been there m8, the chris folder isnt there anymore

jesus so has all the stuff REALLY gone, i didnt know it could delete stuff just by creatning a new account

in the c:\ documents and settings there IS a folder called administrator, but it wont let me open it, says acccess denied

ended up having to format and create 2 accounts, only thing is now that when i try install any programs under the name hannah it wontlet me, says u do not have the permissions to install.

All im trying to install is messenger but it wont let me, ive even changed the account type from limited to administrator but it still wont let me do it.

Any ideas guys

god these accounts are a pain all he wants is a seperate account for his daughter to use messenger and kazzalite, they are the only 2 things she uses and i cant even install either of them.
