    Default Taskbar, too big!

My task bar has the start button and tasks on one line and the quick launch icons on the bottom. I only want the bar to be the height of the start button, ie one lines worth. I can't drag quick launch onto the applications that-are-running-line because they just swop round. I can't drag the bar down because it doesnt do anything when I drag it down unless I drag it fully in which case the bar dissappears fully (well, with the exception of a little bit of blue that you can grab to drag it back up). If I disable quick launch icons it goes back to one line. This problem is really annoying and I'm convinced it is a bug in XP, any one got any ideas? cheers

left click at the top of the bar and pull down to restore it to a single line

you'll see the little up & down window drag icon when your mouse is in the right place to do it

Doesn't work mate. Last time I had this problem I wiped my hard drive which is embarrassing but it needed wiping anyway (honest!)!

yeh sounds like its locked to me

you can also move it to the top of the screen and the left/right by clicking right in the middle and shoving it across

ffs I've already said I can drag it but it won't find the middle point that I want. It isn't locked and it can drag, just not for what I want.

1 and 2 show that I can drag it but when I try to drag it down from 2 it will do nothing when it should go to one bar length and then it will go to 3.

On screenshot 2, have you attempted to drag the tray icons back over to the right hand side where they belong?

I don't understand what you meant fully but I can't drag the quick launch icons or the blue thing between them and the start button onto one line.

drag the buttons to the right of the quicklaunch area.

or drag the quicklaunch up to between the start button and the other taskbar buttons.

or go into task bar properties, turn the quicklaunch off, resize the task bar then turn quicklaunch back on.

either way it should put both the buttons and the quicklaunch on one line, and if your too stupid to work out how to use the ****ing task bar then you shouldnt be allowed near a pc any way.

right click your desktop and choose windows classic as your theme and see if it works then. you could then change it back and it might have reset something that allows it to shrink again

do you have too much stuff on your quicklaunch mabye?

    safe safe, cheers.

Now the blue bar is merged, look at the pic. Was this a bug? Surely I shouldn't have to disable it and re-enable it to resize?

blue bar was umerged before cos they were too sepearte blue bars

now they are too sepearte blue bars that are the same size as the two before put together hence this merging idea

it shouldnt have happened but it did, mabye a minor bug but microsoft has bigger fish to fry.

if it happens again let us know
