wow... that ****er is big!

If the external battery pack is that big, internal battery life must be pretty grim, otherwise why have an external pack? - Either that or they have some very nifty power management going on with that screen...
Watching Divx or playing GT4 on that though - sweet.

I was over at E3 and managed to check the PSP out 'in the flesh'. It's lurvley. The picture quality is soooo crisp.
got a feeling this thing is gonna be damn expensive like in the £200 ballpark?!
but having a portable grand turismo or possibly grant theft auto in ya hands - fu(k, it might just be worth it!
i'd pay up to £400 for this thing!
my guess is £330 release then down to £200 after 6 months!
what d'ya reckon??
I reckon no cuz the psp is NOT going to be profitable as a single hardware piece at launch
Sorry folks about the PSP history, I sold one at the price I bought to a mate and 2nd one I got some cash extra.

One of the main points is, it must be affordable - its got to be a reasonable price - they make the money on the software not the hardware. That said, every console/handheld has a starting price that is quite high but soon falls...I'd think about £149 would be more like it.
Not a bad size really, i personally tohught the GBA was a little cramped with the buttons. Plus a nice widescreen :thumbsOriginally Posted by SOMAN

i rec itll cost £249 on launch, i dont think this will be a direct battle with nintendo as a handheld tho, i think the DS will be atleast half the RRP and they will be marketed very differently, as usual sony will try make it look like an exectutive toy, big boys toys etc, where as ninty will go for the younger end of the scale, as usual,
the rumoured RRP of $130 for a DS is way under £100
The two system are very different things so yes, the price will reflect that.
Well according to MVC and Develop Mag the PSP and the Nintendo DS are penciled in for a 18th March 2005 date for europe,
expected prices are as follows
PSP : €300 ($360)
Nintendo DS : €149 ($180)
It also states that the PSP is aimed at a totally different market to the Nintendo DS!
I recon the PSP will be under £200, it will have to be if it wants to survive! The N-Gage had a bad launch price (Unless you got it on a contract!) and i personally think that is why the N-Gage failed the way it did!

Maltloaf's right, Ngage was just shite. I was impressed it could play tomb raider but that was about it, plus integrating it with a phone is not that a good idea because handheld (and general console) success is dependant on user base. If any one wanted it and was already on contract then they simply would not get it. The games weren't that great and did not have either the franchises of Nintendo or originality of playstation. Doomed from the start.
i wonder if the psp's will have any kind of region lock? Would like to import one of these babys when they hit the shelves in japan !
well since the media is sonys own and it is based on dvd kinda stuff im sure they will lock it just to be ****s
media will be locked
battery life is expected to be around 3 hours MAXIMUM (i would assume for a load once game where the drive can shut down)
expected price is around £200
combine those factors and apart from those of us who just suck up new technology i cant see the general public actualy wanting to buy one just to play cut down ps2 type games for short bursts (before recharging), nice try by sony but i think we have another gamegear / lynx / ngpc / ws in the making albeit with better graphics, you would have thought that sony would have learned from competitors previous mistakes that without battery life and something different you are simply not going to take nintendo's crown.
media - i.e. film will be region locked. Games however should be region free.
