Old 50p coins

Sorry if this has been posted before i found a old 50p coin (just a bit bigger than the new ones) i put it in a drink machine(the one with the coke cans on the front) it gave me �2 in credit so it must be like a �2 coin so if someone has a pile of old 50p then your quids in well maybe

well the bank of england will still exchange most old coins for new 1s so an old 50p for a new 1...ya never no u might be able to buy um ...could say ur a collector?

Can't get old 50 p's from bank... Don't get �2 credit from 'em anyway. (dwf49 was an exception maybe.)

lol.... There is no way on this earth the mint or a bank is going to give you two pound for an old fifty pence... lol... This is HOS material. Oh and another thing... The mint doesn�t keep all the old coins and notes... they melt/burn them.

It was drinks machines mistaking 50p coins for �2 coins not the bank giving you �2 for 50p.

and i made the point that the royal bank of england will exchange n e coin (to wot its worth now a days) so if the drinks machine think the old 50p is a 2 pound coin u could try speaking to the royal bank saying u collect old coins and was wondering if u could buy old 1s off um...

altho knowin the banks they'll prolly charge u more than 50p

Just got hold of another old 50p same machine but no joy just must have been lucky the first time

may be its the way it drops the only diffrence was the first one was dirty

the vending machine at my old school used to give you a pound credit when u put in 2 1p coins in it back to back, so i belive the �2 for 50p story.:thumbs

More than likely was a one off but thats no reason to start flaming it. CueballKrill i think it was a bit harsh to start shouting HOS before you'd even read the post properly. I remember at my school we had come venders and they were always ****in up, i.e. givin away more than they should, accepting funny money etc. I think the biggest part of the problem was the battering it took from kids all the time that ****ed them up.

Suppose this is still worth a try if u have the old 50p's lying around at home, maybe worth tryin a couple of old lookin machines if u can be arsed, end of the day if not it probably aint worth goin out ur way to get some and probly a good idea to take em in an get em changed to real money if u do have them.

Just my old 50p (*cough* bad i know)

Some of the car park machines where I live give you �2 credit for an old 50p, not all of them though so I think its down to how well set the coin validater is.
