Canon Printer Probs !

Hello there,

I am having problems with my canon 6500 colour bubblejet printer. When I turn it on, it bleeps 6 times and then carries on flashing for 6 times and will not print at all. Its as if its dead. I've checked the manual and its says re-install the cartridges, but that hasn't worked either.

I have been searching on the net and found this article

I was wondering if anyone in the forum would know how I can rest the sequence for the waste ink tanks. As I am going to have a right go at canon, as none of this is mentioned in the manual and its going to cost me more than the printer is worth now. :annoyed:

in the article you gave it says "the 6 beeps error is a new cartridge (printhead) error" Have you tried new cartridge's?

Yes forsaken991, have put new cartriges in, and also new printer carriage which has the printhead on it. Still no joy !

I've tried everything - cleaning, new cartridges etc. I rang up canon today and they say it seems like the waste ink tank is full. Does anyone know where i can buy the waste ink tank for this printer ?

There's a lot of discussion on that site you posted about cleaning it out in your sink.

Yeah I think I may have to clean it out in the sink in the end, but they also say that its better to just get a brand new one. The site even gives a contact number and the price for waste ink tank being £17. I rang the company up and they say that you can only get the waste ink tank from canon, and that they canon service the printer for me for approx £80 including carrage. £80 is too expensive - I rather pay for the waste ink tank and change it myself.
