Hi,
Just about to go for one of these Canon 100-400mm, has anyone had any experience of using one. I tried my mates IS lens and was impressed as i never tried a lens with stabilisation before.

Theres some good reviews here mate (http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/s...&cat=27&page=2) , I have the 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM version. I love the "magical" IS on it
p.s. DigitalRev on ebay has a great price on the lens you after (with no VAT (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Canon-EF-100-4...QQcmdZViewItem)
No, they're absolute sh1te. Don't waste your money......
Of course I'm joking....I'm only jealous. When I bought my 70-200L I read a lot of posts on various sites/forums concerning my lens and other L lenses. The one you're after has great reviews. Obviously depends what you gonna use it for ie. what you'll be shooting. For outdoor sports/wildlife...I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a better lens for that price.
Review and Sample pics here
If I had the dosh, I'd buy that lens in a shot.
Lucky git.
I have some sample pics taken on my 350D, I can upload later (at work at the moment)

Cheers for the info guys.
I would really like to see a few shots scotto cheers.
I currently own and cherish an old "magic Drainpipe" 80-200mm L f/2.8 but the reach for pics of wee birds ain't enough and when I stick a 2.0 kenko pro on it the sharpness goes and with no IS is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get a good hand held shot.

as promised here are a few true example pictures from the 100-400. The pictures were taken outside the camera shop so they arent very creative but they should give you a good idea.
None of the pictures have been post processed, the are a direct jpg from the raw file.
