    Question Be Broadband, Any Good??

    Hi

Our local exchange was activated for Be Broadband Yesterday, very tempted to switch my mam's broadband as she is currently paying £15 a month for unlimited 1mb broadband with TalkTalk (speeds are capped through the day though!! )

Anybody had any experience with Be? Iv read their CS aint up to much, but tbh thats not a big problem if their service is good.

Also me mam gets her line rental from TalkTalk aswell, will this cause any problems getting Be?

    Cheers

Been with them a few months now and aprt from a couple of teething troubles, i.e. BT reconnected my number and broadband to someone elses house, I have had a trouble free connection that maxes out at 17.5 meg. Loving it to be honest and I get that speed all day and night.

Sign up through Quidco and get 24 quid back as well.

    Be looking good.

Have a look for mine on there too lol - it's called Karoo and everyone in my whole City has to use it (no BT and no Cable) with no option of an alternative supplier.

I find the service first class and as far as my experience has gone the customer service is very good. I haven't looked around their forums for a while but the impression I got is that they are a lot more honest and up front with their customers than any other broadband provider.

The best aspect of the service seems to be the very real unlimited service. There is a FUP but they have never used it as far as I know. Forget 100 gig limits, I have on occasion downloaded what must be around 100 gig in 1 day.

Check with sky's availability, i get 8mb with a 40gb usage limit for a fiver a month. Yeah it drops out occasionally which is annoying but that one you are on sounds shite!

Had BE at my flat and at my parents house, it is that good, raped well over 60-80 gig in one day and prob 300 a week last month and no issues at all, no speed drops or shaping. Only problem would be them insisting you use the BE box provided otherwise they wont help you with technical settings. they respond quickly when you send an email to them, havent had to call them up yet so cant comment on that. in marylebone im getting 18meg-1.2up and croydon 6-7meg with 1.2 up.

Also with BE, do a search, there was was another person asking and other tips and savings offered.

As for th BE router, I found they were more then helpful in trying to help me, but likely due to the age, we could not get it going. There are lots ob BE members using other modems, as sometimes (or so reported) this can give you slightly more speed due to the fact you are doing your fully configured set up. There is a BE forum (unofficial) with people helping on routers, Concole connection, testing etc etc.

    Cheers.....Q

Have never found the router a problem myself but some do. I think it very much depends on how many of the features you use.

At the end of the day the kit they supply is not at the top end of the quality scale. If you intend to use it for wireless with encryption as well as the other features then it is highly likely to crap out pretty frequently. I gather that when you put too much stain on it then it overheats.

On the other hand few people find they can obtain as high a sync speed with other kit as they can with the Be modem.

I myself have never had a single problem with my modem but I have never given it too heavy a workload. I have the wireless turned off and it runs solely as a modem passing my public IP address onto my firewall's external interface. For this purpose it works absolutely flawlessly.

I'm with Be and I''m loving the download speeds.
I sync at 19.5mb using a Netgear DG834GT or at 17.5mb using their shite router.
Get about 2MB/s when downloading so can have a divx film down in about 6 mins.
They even text you when they are taking a payment or have updated a support ticket.

On the unoficial forums there are lots of threads about 360 dropping, but other people report no trouble,

There is a settign on the router specifically port forwarding for the 360 (or perhaps labeld as xbox).

There is plenty of help. The help desk will not really be able to help on this. They seem to work of a flow chart system.

However there are plenty of BE users already set up offering tips as to there will be around here.

Make some enquireies with BE before gettgin connected. Get them in writing or if on the phone get the name, and time of call.

WHen i had serious troubles (general connection) i got my connection refunded and a month free.

Should they tell you YES YES YES and for some reason you prove not to be able to establish a secure connection for online gameing then you can get your monies back (with a fight of course)

Its only an estimate so you may get slightly more, 24mb is a theoretical maximum. I live 720m from my exchange (straight line) and connect at 18.

There is a calculator I posted on here to tell you what you would get by inputting your attenuation stats etc. At 2km you will never get 24 meg. Christ I would think there are probably about 20 people in the country who get 24.
