simple question... do you need a phone line?

hi

ive always had broadband from NTL which ran from the stb. i had digital and phone services from them too so i never really looked into/needed to know the answer to my question which is:

do you NEED a phone line to have NTL broadband installed?

i know you need one for ADSL as ADSL only runs through BT lines but im in a place now with no digital tv/phone/net installed and i can only afford one of the 3. ive got freeview which'll do and a mobile so no real urgent need for a permanent line.

anyway, enough of my rambling.. do NTL require you take out a phone package too?

you won't get a discount from ntl if you don't take the line as it's free with the tv connection, they have been known to give a discount in areas where you have had to take a bt line to get broadband due to ntl not being able to provide it.

If your saving money then bt line + adsl is probably the cheapest, but ntl might give you an offer - I've seen several leaflets recently with services free. I am assuming you still need to take a tv package from ntl to get broadband

I dont think they do, I had a look on the website and couldn't find it saying that anywhere.

No you don't need any other product from them, it changed some months back. I had the basic TV pack and Broadband, but with a �5 discount for them not being able to supply a phone line at the time when I signed up. They then called me and told me that I would have to have the phone line for, I think �15 extra until I told them to cancel everything then they told me you could now have Broadband on its own.
