    Default IRDA adaptor under XP

    Hi All,

i recently bought a IrDA adaptor off Ebay to send ringtones to my mobile phone but i just can't get it to work. I've even tried software that emulates a serial port through a USB. Can any of you guys help me out here.

    Hi,

Sorry, that does look a bit vague.

Yeah its a USB IrDA adaptor. When i plug it into the PC XP detects it and asks how i want to install the driver. I used the one on the CD that came with it. After that i still can't see it. There isn't even an icon in the task tray to say that its been activated.

i think it will only show on the system tray when it is connected to a device You also have to activate IR on your phone for your PC to see the phone, menu 10 on nokias usually....Also check in control panel and check the IR icon for settings, try lowering the baud rate a few clicks, and try reconnecting. The phones IR activation times out within about 60 secs if it has not seen a compliant device, so you will need to keep enableing it, and it should flash an icon on your phones screen when it is active

    Apart from that, fook knows!

I had a similar problem with one of these things - in the end i just had to trawl the web looking for drivers for it. took me bloody ages, but finally got it sorted.

the only downside is - i can't remember where i got the drivers from - sorry
