    Default Exorcist: The Beginning

In the aftermath of World War II, Lankester Merrin finds himself in the remote Turkana region of Kenya. Haunted by memories of the war, he has taken a sabbatical from the priesthood and journeyed far from his native Holland. He has come to lead the archaeological excavation of a mysterious, Byzantine church, buried in pristine condition as if on the day it was completed. Directly underneath the church, Merrin discovers a much more ancient crypt -- and finds himself face-to-face with unspeakable Evil. Madness descends on the local villagers and the contingent of British soldiers sent to guard the excavation. Merrin watches helplessly as the atrocities of war are repeated against another innocent village -- atrocities he'd hoped to never see again. The blood of innocents flows freely on the East African plain, but the horror has only just begun....
being a exorcist fan i really wanted to see this, the original exorcist IMO is still the most scariest film of all time, so wanted to see how this compared to it.

this just has the same, spine chilling effect the first one had, so be ready for :coffee: , wasnt the best of films though, but thought it was pretty cool

not much else to say really, worth a watch

I thought it was pretty good overall, but unfortunately it takes a lot more to scare people than it did 30 years ago.
There are some "jump" moments, but the film tries too hard, especially with the shock scenes.
    Most are just distasteful.
    8/10.

yeah i finished watching it now, and i must say, up until perhaps the last 15 minutes i thought it was a great film, with some good scenes and nice gorey parts. However, i reckon they should have kept this as an original story and not linked it to the exorcist, i mean, all those inverted crosses, and the creepy old church etc, was very eery and moody.

So overall i liked it too

I would say that they did thier best to add to the overall story but I might be mistaken but wasnt the demon in the origional Exorcist a demon and not Lucifer himself???

Anyway some scary moments and it did manage to set a disturbing atmosphere in the church and hospital. If anyone has seen a film with Timothy Dalton called Possesed will see where a large portion of this film was taken :whistle

6/10 worth a watch if nothing else to see.
