Have to say I am much happier with Firefox oper internet explorer, much quicker loading and having the little google bar in the top right corner is a nice touch!

if you click on that little google sign and gooto add more you can add searches like ebay uk, imdb anything with searchengies basically the tab function is just the main advantage

Great deal of other extensions for it too, such as mouse gestures - worth it just for the surprised look on ppl's faces when you navigate without using any buttons etc.

Also, natty little things like weather forecast in the status bar (or anywhere you want it actually)

    Top piece of software!

BTW There's alterations you can make to speed up loading time on some systems. If interested i can find out the details!

    Regards

Here's how to speed it up:
    Code:
How To Speed Up Firefox (Helpful Vanity)

Posted on 12/12/2004 12:45:50 PM PST by KoRn

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows:

    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

I did the above a few weeks back and found it make no difference at all!
Plus many servers don't support http pipelining fully yet.

If you are using broadband then there shouldn't actually be a need to make any tweaks for the extra second or so!

lol firefox lesson going on in here.

thanks for the tip on speed increase, on my NTL 1.5MB line it's made everything steam like a bastard! i'ver never browsed so fast, still the same shit out there though.

firefox is a wicked program, right now i'm teling someone to install it to remove all their IE spyware...not the best solution but it'll do for an average user
    I'm new to this

it also closes them down when you click the tab, makes it a good browsing button.

another tip ive picked up, drag select a word on a website, right click it and u can choose "search web for", it then opens up a new tab with google in and searches for that word, how f00king good is that!

This Link is 2 years old so some things in IE might have improved, but you will get the idea!!

Something else I recently found out, if you want to bookmark a page, just click on the little icon to the left of the address and drag it to the bookmarks folder, or the folder you want in your personal folders across the page top.
