Net ID Correct

Hi,

I have just bought a second hand box (4000) and when first connected I can get the preview channels and the guide all other channels say subscription required. Does this mean that the location is therefore correct. Just wondering whether I need to buy a Scart to Serail lead as well as a programmer?

Sorry if this is a newbie obvious question.
