    * If an error is made by JPMC Re: eBay or your Bank or Building Society, you are guaranteed full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid.
    * You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society.

Its not a scam. The fact that you've blanked out your name means that they knew your name in the first place.

Try reading terms and conditions before using your credit/debit card.

the headers are valid so it's come from ebay, looking through other emails they also have comment: 0.0.0. I'd contact ebay and ask them why they needed to setup another direct debit

Will folk NEVER learn...??!! No reputable company will EVER send an email with a link to a site asking for any personal security details. If you get an email of that sort (no matter HOW authentic it looks) IT'S A SCAM, and if you're ignorant enough to fill in the details and send, then you're going to get stung. There has been enough publicity about these sorts of scams to stop people falling for them, but no, they still are.

btw... I'm not getting at you Lucky. Good on you to spot the scam, and good of you to advertise it here. :thumbs

If you are ever asked for personal info, call the company direct, that will always verify to authenticity...

    well put,

Tesco's phoned me asking for details to feliver my shopping, like bank numbers. I refused and they said "we need the details or we cant send your shopping."

So i asked for her number and checked it and phoned back, explained why and they were fine with it.

reccomend everyone does the same :tongue

I got the same mail from ebay, but it must be legit as on my statement it now says "will be deducted from your bank account on ..." .
I did apply for a direct debit a long while ago but never sent the signed form back in, so it does seem a bit strange how they got it set up without my signature though.

Talking about ebay DD scams, I have spent the past two days trying to find out why my account overview said it had recieved two DD's for my seller fees, on the 31st oct and the 5th dec, just to find out yesterday through a letter from bank demanding charges from me to cover the cost of an unpaid DD to another firm, because the money in bank for that firm was used up by Ebay taking both them so called paid seller fees out of my account on the 8th dec. If after i recieve my invoice from Ebay stating my bank will be debitted within 5-10 days, why did it take them 6 weeks to debit the first one and over 2 weeks for the second. Also the phoine number given to my bank from Ebay with my DD mandate, is nothing more than a message that says to contact ebay "go into my account and click on customer services" As if my bank can do that.:annoyed: :censored

Does that mean that this makes them payable for my charges, as the Direct Debits where not took out in the date times given to me?

The direct debit guarantee isn't much use in my experience (but my experience of relying on it is only one time). I got a new flexible mortage which meant paying my salary into a new account. The new bank promised to move all my direct debits from the old account which they did. I moved all the funds across too apart from a few quid. Guess what? The old bank didn't cancel the DD's. When the old DD's started to hit the account got overdrawn and I got a snotty letter asking for OD charges. Now I don't exactly know how these two banks managed to cock this simple transfer up between them, but I'm covered by the DD guarantee right?

I called the old bank back asking them to rectify their mistake and give me my immediate refund, but they were being arseholes about it. Eventually I got to speak to the manager who agreed to waive the charges "just this one time". The bastard made it sound like he was doing me a favour! Anyway, mini rant over.
