    Default ST Lab router help?

Hi - I have an ST Lab Broadband Router for xDSL/Cable Modem, which I am trying to use to split up a 1.5MB Telewest connection from the Motorola cable modem provided by Telewest. I've got one PC and one laptop that I'm trying to use at the moment. Both the computers are running Windows XP Home.
After following all the instructions (correctly, I think) it is basically working, but after about 5 minutes of having both computers online, the connection freezes up, and the router needs to be reset. Needless to say, this is irritating the hell out of me.

I was wondering whether I have the network settings right... I'm using the IP address, subnet mask and DNS servers that the manual appears to reccomend, but am still having this problem.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Simon.

You shouldn't need to be making any changes to your network settings, Windows should automatically be taking them from the router anyway.

The fact that you can actually get online would indicate that things are working correctly, if you keep having to reset the router because it is locking up then I would suspect that the router itself is the problem.

    Thanks for the replies...

The router seems to be working at the moment, and the problem may not be quite what I thought. It's not always necessary to reset it - the connection is just very patchy when 2 computers are trying to use it, ie you click a link, it doesny work, refresh the page and it does work.

Is this just a crap router, or could it be something else?

    Thanks,

    Simon.
